Committed to contributing to art and cultural activities, especially contemporary art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) opened in and since then has been exploreing diverse approaches to contemporary art.
Today, with a collection of over 5, works of art and , books, MOT is engaged in various projects to grasp the current state of art by actively engaging with the latest creative efforts at home and abroad in a variety of fields. Its various departments collaborate in areas such as collecting works/reference materials, presenting permanent and temporary exhibitions, education, and maintaining a comprehensive art library, and work in the pursuit and promotion of art that corresponds to the diversified values of the current era.
MOT welcomed the renewal in to achieve an “open museum”, and visitors can also enjoy artworks installed in public spaces, art library, museum shop, and café &lounge in an open atmosphere.

Nationalmuseum für moderne Kunst Tokio
Das Nationalmuseum für moderne Kunst Tokio (japanisch東京国立近代美術館, Tōkyō kokuritsu kindai bijutsukan) ist ein eröffnetes Kunstmuseum im Tokioter Stadtbezirk Chiyoda. Als Kurzform des Namens ist MoMAT (von englischNational Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo) in Gebrauch.
Die Sammlung reicht von Werken der Meiji-Zeit bis hin zu zeitgenössischer Kunst.
zog das Museum in einen Neubau des Architekten Yoshiro Taniguchi um. Der Altbau im Stadtbezirk Chūō wurde umgebaut und beherbergt heute die filmhistorische Abteilung (Film Center). In der Nähe befindet sich auch die eröffnete Abteilung für Kunsthandwerk, die das alte Gebäude der Palastwache nutzt.
Das Nachbargebäude beherbergt das Nationalarchiv.

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
Das Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum wurde als erstes staatliches Kunstmuseum Japans gegründet. 1. Ghibli Museum
Located near Kichijoji Station, the Ghibli Museum is the animation studio’s first physical space dedicated to its films, many of which were directed by Hayao Miyazaki. More akin to a theme park than a museum, fans of Ghibli can spend time in a whimsical area with hints to popular titles wherever your eyes wander. Every now and again, the museum will host special exhibitions surrounding one particular film or work.

2. Mori Art Museum
Perhaps one of the city&#;s best private institutions, the Mori Art Museum in Roppongi Hills hosts numerous exhibitions throughout the year that feature artists from Japan and abroad. The museum is known for its meticulous curation and bold yet accessible themes that can be enjoyed by amateur and hard-core art lovers alike.
In addition to the main gallery space, the Mori Art Museum has smaller sister galleries that host additional exhibitions, notably the Mori Art Gallery, which focuses more on technology and popular culture.
